Child Safety at Alan Mitchell Rowing Club:
The Alan Mitchell Club is committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for all members. As an affiliate of Rowing Victoria, our club complies with the Rowing Victoria Child Safety Code.
While we do not operate a junior rowing program, we recognise our responsibility to protect children and young people under the age of 18. To meet our obligations:
Parental/Guardian Supervision: Any member under 18 years of age must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian at all times while on club premises or using club equipment.
Restricted Access During School Programs: Our club is co-located with a school rowing program. To protect the safety and privacy of school-aged participants, club members are not permitted to access the sheds during designated school program times, when school children are present.
Our approach ensures that we meet both our legal obligations and our duty of care, while fostering a safe and respectful environment for everyone involved in the sport.

Support for Royal Flying Doctor Rowathon:
2022 marked the 30th anniversary of the first involvement of the Alan Mitchell Club’s involvement in raising money for the Royal Flying Doctor Service. Club members participate in a Rowathon held on the Murray and Darling rivers. Typically the Rowathon (the longest row in Australia) is conducted with 3-4 legs, each approximately 20 kilometres long.
Proving age is no barrier to participation and fund raising, Ernst Wirtz from the Alan Mitchell Club had the distinction of being the oldest rower to compete (88 years) and also the recipient of the Lee Mann fundraising award for the highest individual fundraising in 2021.
We extend a warm welcome to all Wesley Alumni to get involved in fitness and fun by joining the Alan Mitchell Club.
Held on the second Saturday of September each year and is hosted by the Wentworth Rowing Club.
